Song of America

“One of the greatest living baritones, a leading recitalist.” San Jose Mercury News

Thomas Hampson, “the leading American baritone” (Gramophone) and Music Academy of the West alumnus, joins forces with the Library of Congress to create Song of America. Celebrating the history of America’s creativity, this collaboration features repertoire spanning from 1700 until today, including psalm settings and hymns, folksongs, war songs, African-American spirituals and other works by our nation’s great composers. The Song of America project features facsimiles of the musical works and a special presentation by the curators of the Library of Congress’s music division. Opera Today raves, “Hampson’s powerful and expressive voice brings these songs to life.”

Presented in association with Music Academy of the West.
