Band’s Santa Barbara Debut
Charles Bradley & the Menahan Street Band
“A voice expressive enough to wow the most demanding soul music fans.” Hollywood Reporter
“Charles Bradley’s rise to the limelight is utterly amazing.” SPIN magazine
A testament to the power of perseverance, Brooklyn-based singer Charles Bradley is a commanding soul artist who gives new meaning to the phrase “the voice of experience.” Inspired by seeing James Brown live at the Apollo in the 1960s, Bradley spent the next 48 years stoking the flame of his unfulfilled music career. Emerging from obscurity only recently, Bradley received rave reviews for his striking debut album No Time for Dreaming (Dunham/Daptone), which was one of Rolling Stone’s Top 50 Albums of 2011. The Menahan Street Band, with musicians from Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings, supplies raw, lush backing instrumentals.
Menahan Street Band’s new album The Crossing hit October 31 from Daptone Records. Download the title single for free at Rolling Stone. Menahan’s Thomas Brenneck eclectically describes the new album as: "music to an unreleased Sergio Leone western starring the Wu Tang set in 1992.”
